A deep dive with stakeholders to establish a mutual understanding of the overall product goals, strategies and objectives. Discovery level meetings to gain insight into user research objectives.
Collaborative team-based brainstorming sessions — get all ideas out on the table, align on strategic goals and establish user flows, scenarios and tasks.
Applying established user flows to low-fi wireframes and introducing design patterns. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to establish finalized user interactions.
Applying design systems and interactive design treatments to finalized wireframes. Delivering component-level design specifications for appropriate output channels and documenting a final Design System.
I generally conduct user research throughout the course of a project, and the research never truly ends. When more specifically applied, user research begins during the Engagement Meetings and evolves further as we work through the wireframing process.
Explorative-type research through methods such as targeted surveys allows us to make educated assumptions and helps to identify the usability testing scope.
Validating and gaining valuable insight on user interactions. Various methods depending on use-case. For assessment and comparative testing, moderated adaptive interviews are encouraged at the beginning and end of an engagement. Other methods such as session recordings and heat-map technology have been great tools for remote testing.
